Return of the World Peace Game film plus panel discussion with the 2011 Most Influential TedTalk Speaker & Local Educator John Hunter The Paramount

The Paramount will be screening the World Peace and Other 4th-Grade Achievements on Sunday April 22 at 4pm. The Panel Discussion featuring John Hunter and Chris Farina (film director) will be held after the screening of the film, which will begin at 4pm on Sunday, April 22. In addition to John and Chris, Jamie Baker from The Martin Institute for Teaching Excellence will participate in the panel, which will be moderated by Coy Barefoot, host of WINA's Charlottesville Right Now. The event is sponsored by Michael Hancock, Financial Advisor.

We encourage all educators and students to participate and are offering a discounted $6 admission price for educators.

The Paramount first presented the film in 2010. Since that time the film, and John Hunter, have received international acclaim. With awards ranging from international film festivals, to the annual TedTalks, the World Peace Game film directed by Chris Farina, as well as the man behind it, have made a splash across the globe. This event offers the local community the opportunity to hear about the experiences of these hometown heroes (John Hunter, Chris Farina) first hand. During the panel discussion following the film they will be discussing their insights on education and the future for our students. It will also allow the audience the opportunity to check in with John Hunter and Chris Farina about their experience and what other plans they have in store.

Join us March 24th on the Downtown Mall for "WVPT's Curious George visits Celebrate! 250." Beginning at 9:30am, there will be a parade up the Mall from the Omni Hotel to the Paramount Theater. Then, there will be a screening of "Curious George: Follow That Monkey" at The Paramount Theater. This event will parrtner with Celebrate! 250 to celebrate Charlottesville's 250th Anniversary and the importance of growing up reading in our community. WVPT also has local non-profit partners such as the Virginia Festival of the Book, the Paramount Theater, the VIrginia Discovery Museum, and the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library.
