In the summer of 1981, a group of 35 area musicians formed the Virginia Beach Community Orchestra. Its purpose was to provide a challenging performance experience for area musicians and to meet the need for low cost, quality concerts in Virginia Beach. Ten years later, the name of the orchestra was changed to The Virginia Beach Symphony Orchestra to demonstrate the growth and quality of the organization, which had blossomed to over 100 members who give freely of their time and talents.

In 2007, the name was changed to Symphonicity - the Symphony Orchestra of Virginia Beach.  Symphonicity is a combination of "Symphony" and "City," but it is also a musical play on the word "Synchronicity" - a series of events that seem to be meaningfully related. The orchestra is comprised of musicians from all walks of life. They come from different cities, states and countries. They are teachers, business professionals, homemakers, composers and much more.
While they are different in age, race and religion, all have two things in common: a love of music and a love of their city.

Symphonicity is honored to call the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts at Virginia Beach their home. With a premier location in the heart of Virginia Beach’s lively Town Center, 1,200 comfortable seats,

excellent sight lines, an outdoor performance plaza and support spaces, the center provides state-of-the-art facilities for arts activities and community celebrations.

The 2009-2010 Concert Season tickets can be purchased by calling the Symphonicity office at 757-671-8611 between the hours of 9:00am and 1:00pm or you can click, print, complete and mail in this order form.  You can also fax the order form in with credit card information to 757-671-8704.
