Wonder Woman Fights Crime and Sings?

Posted by Mary Griffith in Untagged

Contributed by Mary Griffith

linda_carterAlthough Lynda Carter hasn't fought crime in many years, if you dared her to put on her "suit", she wouldn't look any different that she did back then! How gracefully this talented artist has grown up, and grown up with music! Lynda delighted the crowd Cabaret style while singing a full hour and a half to this eager group. She even did her Wonder Woman spin to much encouragement and applause.

Lynda lives in the DC area with her husband of 30 years and still has a daughter in college. Lynda has written several songs, some of which are on her new album that was released in May. She sang a song she wrote to her husband, and also one she wrote to her daughter as she went off to college. Rubberband Man, Locomotion and How Sweet It Is were some of the oldies but goodies Lynda started the night with.

Date Night in Williamsburg: Nazar Mediterranean Restaurant

Posted by Mary Griffith in Untagged

Did you know that we have had a Mediterranean restaurant in our midst since September 2010? Well, I didn’t either! I just happened to drive by the Nazar restaurant on Jamestown Road when heading toward the ferry one day.

When I went in to try it out, I asked why I hadn’t seen anything about the restaurant. Cole, their amazing waiter, told me that the owners, Janice and Metin Ortalan wanted just the locals to find them first. Metin is from Istanbul, Turkey. He opened his first restaurant at the age of 19 in a rock cave in Istanbul. There he served presidents of neighboring countries and was very successful.

Aromas Williamsburg- Cheddar Cheese on your Apple Pie?

Posted by Mary Griffith in Untagged

Contributed by Mary Griffith

aromas-apple-pieSo, I've been a Southerner all my life, and I've never heard of the southern tradition of melting cheddar cheese on your apple pie instead of serving with ice cream. Have you?

Well, live and experience! It is a really good combination and I got to try it first hand (and mouth) at Aromas in Williamsburg. And the pie slice is about 5 inches tall. Don, one of the owners, told me that there are 23-26 apples in each of their onsite, homemade apple pies!

Date Night in Williamsburg: You Are Going to Go Hog Wild!

Posted by Mary Griffith in Untagged

Such an unassuming place that Hog Wild Smokehouse, but what a treasure to find! Not up for a date night at a fancy place, but like the top notch cuisine? Well, Hog Wild is definitely the place to go. BillLee, Blanche and their wonderful staff (most of whom have been there for 3 years or more) will make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door-a very relaxed atmosphere for a first date, especially.

BillLee says he spends so much of his time at the restaurant, that he welcomes those who come in to dine as his guests-as if they were coming to his home to eat. And now Hog Wild is serving breakfast, so you can end your date night with dinner HogWild_Comboand then come back in the morning for breakfast! "It's a labor of love", BillLee says.
