I grew up in Newport News, and have seen a huge transformation and evolution in the Peninsula Fine Arts Center. Last Thursday I attended Art After 5. This is a fun, family friendly event that will continue to be held on the 3rd Thursday evening for each month from 5:30 until 7:30. Each event will feature live entertainment, wonderful catered faire (Blackdog Catering), poetry readings and artists demonstrating their craft--- and it's all FREE!

The Peninsula Fine Arts Center's (Pfac) Art After 5 will feature live music by Gina Dalmas and the Cow Tippin' Playboys, live poetry readings organized by noted poet Toni Wynn, painting demonstration by artist Brian Murphy, food by Black dog Catering, and more Nov. 18, 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Admission is free.
Gina Dalmas and the Cow Tippin' Playboys, a Honky Tonk/Country/Indie Rock band from Norfolk, have been a staple on the Hampton Roads music scene since 2007. Dalmas and the band play covers of classic country standards by legends such as Patsy Cline and Ernest Tubb, as well as original songs.
