The Pilobolus Dance Theatre is in Washington, Connecticut. At the Theatre, the world's greatest dancers train, practice, and perfect the over 100 works in the Pilobolus repertoire. Every so often, after exacting preparation, Pilobolus embarks on a nation-or-world wide tour. This spring marks just such a tour of our country, and we, the Virginians or Virginia-visitors lucky enough to get tickets, have the great privilege of experiencing Pilobolus live in Virginia Beach at the Sandler Center on Saturday, May 15th at 8 PM and Sunday May 16th at 3:00 PM.
But what is Pilobolus, you may be asking?
Good question. Direct and to the point. Pilobolus is a now-legendary and world-renowned dance collective formed by Dartmouth dance students in 1971. From its inception, Pilobolus has been widely praised for its inventive, gymnastic, uniquely contortive choreography, and perhaps best known for its innovative partner work, the still-incredible many-membered shifting and interacting tableaus.
