Hampton Cup Regatta 2009Posted by robertvining@gmail.com in Sports/Athletics , Outdoors , Family Fun , Boat race |
If you've never seen a boat race then you have to check this one out! The Hampton Cup Regatta has run since 1926 so this year marks its 83rd consecutive year running. The Regatta has gone from a loosely regulated race, to an official event sanctioned by UIM which is the world powerboat racing sanctioning body, the American Powerboat Association, and Canadian Boat-racing Federation. The Regatta is the oldest of its kind in North America.
This year the Hampton Cup will take place on August 14th, 15th and 16th from 10AM to 5PM. This is a really exciting event that draws people from all over the U.S. These boats are fast, loud and so fun to watch! There will be 9 different boat classes with top speeds for the classes ranging from 110 to 170 mph.

cents and tell us all about it.
