Colonial Williamsburg's Women's History Month
Complete with exhibits, tours, reenactments and general activities, Women's History Month offers an insightful look into the feminine nature of the 18th century. In particular, the many important women of Williamsburg will be explored throughout the month, highlighting that even when society didn't view women as equal they were more than capable of providing relevant contributions to our nation's history.

cents and tell us all about it.
It's Presidents Day weekend. That probably means you don't have to work on Monday, which opens up another day to celebrate! Even better, Williamsburg has planned two full day's worth of exciting events!
The celebration of Washington's Birthday, February 22, as a holiday dates back to around Washington's presidency. Later on, Abraham Lincoln was also born in February, on the 12th. Presidents' Day is, officially, still called Washington's Birthday - a 1960s bill to rename the holiday "Presidents' Day" was defeated in Congress, but the day (February 18 this year) was moved to a Monday between the two presidents' birthdays, and most people now celebrate the holiday in honor of both presidents.
This year, looking for holiday lights in Williamsburg, I didn't see anything too flashy. There are a few tasteful, modest light displays, and a lot of truly lovely wreaths, but I didn't see anyone who had gone all out with a 15-foot inflatable Rudolf or Wise Men of flashing neon blue. I can't say I'm terribly disappointed.
