Music in CW - Dancing Under the Stars

Posted by admin in Williamsburg , Music , Colonial Williamsburg

The Williamsburg Symphonia announces an exciting new pops concert in Merchants Square, Williamsburg on October 4, the evening before An Occasion for the Arts, as part of a weekend long celebration of the arts.

The concert will feature the Symphonia playing live dance music spanning five decades and many styles, from the '40s swing era to the Beach Boys, with a touch of rock, funk and soul in between. As the concertgoers enjoy a box dinner on Duke of Gloucester Street, the Jae Sinnett Trio will open the concert at 6 p.m. with an hour of superb live jazz.

"We are excited to catch the wave of the resurgence of ballroom dancing and bring this very special evening of live music and dance to Williamsburg. It is a wonderful extension of An Occasion for the Arts, " says Harry Burton, Williamsburg Symphonia Executive Director.

First presented at the Kimball Theatre in 2001 as a costumed reading, the play has blossomed into a stage production featuring the original all-star cast of Colonial Williamsburg's renowned character historian Bill Barker as Jefferson, Colonial Williamsburg actress Abigail Schumann as Abigail Adams and the popular Sam Goodyear as John Adams.
