Oysters will be prepared in many different styles to include freshly shucked on the half shell, frittered, stewed and fried; so many varieties to choose from you will have a hard time simply making up your mind. So come on down to 17th Street Farmers' Market on September 18th and bring your appetite and your wallet; don't be late.

Music begins approximately at 11:00AM and will feature the Trongone Family Players & Road Kill Roy, who will rock the Bottom and jam ‘till night.

Labor Day may signal the end of fun in the sun and lazy afternoons, but it doesn't have to stop yet!

qp_logoEnjoy a tasty empanada and some saucy merengue at the 10th Annual ¿Qué Pasa? Festival on Saturday, September 25 from noon to 8 P.M. at the Science Museum of Virginia. This FREE festival is Virginia's most recognized celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, combining the irresistible rhythm of music, the zest of culture, and exquisite food from all over Latina America.

Committed to bringing education to all underserved youth, new to the festival this year will be Passport to Education, an educational forum to bring resources to the Hispanic community. State and private educational organizations as well as the White House will be on site to help families learn how to pave the road for a bright educational future for their children. Interpreters will be on hand for language assistance.

Native American Festival: Thunder on the Bay in Hampton

Saturday, September 18th, 11:00 AM -8:00 PM (12 PM Grand Entry)

native-festival-hamptonA Hampton 400th Anniversary Feature Event, Thunder on the Bay is a drumming and dancing pow-wow, focusing on the continued Native American presence in our region and along the East Coast, with educational exhibits, food vendors, and craft vendors.

The fun kicks off on Friday with a free musical performance by NAMMY award-winning flautist Jeff Ball and his band. The show takes place 7:30-9 p.m., followed by a dazzling fireworks display over the Chesapeake Bay at 9:15 p.m. Saturday's activities begin at 11 a.m. with a showcase of native dances, arts and crafts, Native American cuisine, and more! Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.
