The Super Bowl is coming up, and I thought I would share a few bits of trivia about the event. The Super Bowl was first played on January 15, 1967. The Super Bowl was actually played before the NFL and AFL merged into one league, and was formed by a temporary agreement between the two league's that the champion teams from each league would compete in an inter-league championship for a few years, while the contracts that would merge the two leagues were being negotiated. Now, of course, the leagues have joined, and what were once two different leagues are considered the two conferences of the NFL.
The American Indoor Football Association will be holding its preseason 2010 Kickoff Classic on January 23, 2010 at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond Virginia. The game will feature the expansion Richmond Raiders against a squad of 2009 AIFA All-Stars and featured players. The festivities will begin on Thursday January 21st and run through Saturday evening January 23rd, many of the activities will be open to the public.
