The Super Bowl is coming up, and I thought I would share a few bits of trivia about the event. The Super Bowl was first played on January 15, 1967. The Super Bowl was actually played before the NFL and AFL merged into one league, and was formed by a temporary agreement between the two league's that the champion teams from each league would compete in an inter-league championship for a few years, while the contracts that would merge the two leagues were being negotiated. Now, of course, the leagues have joined, and what were once two different leagues are considered the two conferences of the NFL.
Hosting the Super Bowl is a major privilege for a city and a stadium. The stadium that will host the Super Bowl is usually decided three to five years in advance. Cities make bids for this privilege years in advance, and the NFL carefully chooses from the eligible cities. Every Super Bowl has been played in a city that hosts and NFL team franchise.

Homecoming 2009 at the College of William and Mary was a great success, fun for all who attended one or even all of the events. But it was hard to attend all of the events, there were so many! Let's break it down.
This past weekend marked the reunions of all classes graduating in 4 and 9: 1964, 1969, 1974, etc. Reunion ceremonies and events specific to classes and decades were held throughout the weekend culminating in the alumni-only Saturday Night Bash at the Virginia Lodge.
