Make the holidays even brighter with New Kent mulling wine spices

Posted by admin in Wineries , New Kent , Gift Ideas

Have you tried the New Kent Winery mulling spices yet?

mull-spices-nkwMulling spices are a fantastic addition to wine, especially when the weather starts to get colder. Mulled wine is simply wine that has been heated and infused with a blend of spices. Not only does it taste festive, the scent of the spices makes the whole room smell like the holidays.

Mulled wine has a rich history in Europe. Believe it or not, this delicious treat was originally produced during the Renaissance to mask the taste of wine that was about to turn bad. Many winemakers bottled during early fall, and because wine preservation was not what it is today, the wine often started to turn around the Yuletide. That's why mulling wine has become a holiday tradition even now that people use very good wine!

Unique last minute gift ideas from the Peninsula Fine Arts Center Gallery Shop

Posted by admin in Newport News , Gift Ideas , Christmas , Art

artgiftThe Peninsula Fine Arts Center’s Gallery Shop is a great place to find unique, truly one-of-a-kind works of art and crafts, plus hand-made jewelry, and carefully chosen items from near and far. Much of the artwork is done by local artists, often depicting local scenes or sites. So shopping at the Gallery Shop supports Pfac as well as local artists and craftspeople.

This year send family and friends unique items that reflect the community where you live and show off local talented artists. As a special attraction, Pfac is hosting “Artists in Residence” throughout the holidays, so people can meet, and see the artists at work. Holiday shoppers don’t usually get the opportunity to meat the person who created their gift purchases, but that is exactly what awaits customers to Peninsula Fine Arts Center’s Gallery Shop on select afternoons in December.
