And horseback riding has its' benefits. Anyone of any age can participate. It's a great workout that can be challenging and fulfilling. Horses are loyal, kind companions that have different personalities, which can fit your riding style.

Try a guided tour at Lakewood Trail or if interested in a longer ride, York River State Park features a 5 mile bridle trail, filled with breathtaking views of the York River and Taskinas Creek.

Enjoy a day in the saddle - Horseback Riding in Williamsburg, VA

stonhouse-elvisEnglish-style horseback riding is all about communication between the horse and the rider. The saddle is thin, almost minimalist compared to the Western saddle, and the idea is that the rider doesn't restrict the horse's movement and communicates with the horse directly, using body language in a much more subtle way than is possible with the Western saddle.

Experience horseback riding, much as it was done in Colonial Virginia in the traditional English style.

stonehouse-rainbowHere is our recommendation for a fun, family event for the fall season:  Horseback Riding at Lakewood Trails!   Enjoy a guided one hour riding experience which begins at the modern training facilities of the Stonehouse Stables horse farms. Then its 'Tally Ho' and off you go on a relaxing ride over fields, through woods, and alongside a peaceful lake on their exclusive private riding trail.

Stonehouse Stables, a family operated horse farm is located only a few minutes from historic Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Easy access from I-64 leads to a beautiful hunt seat equestrian support center nestled among several other horse farms and trails in rural James City County.

Lakewood Trails at Stonehouse Stables offers a year round riding experience!  Here are some of the trails you may choose from:
