Science Museum of Virginia Green Acre Farm Harvest

Thursday, August 19th - 10 AM

science-museum-virginia-green-acresKids from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond will help harvest produce from the Science Museum of Virginia's Green Acre Farm on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. Representatives from the Central Virginia Food Bank will be on hand to collect and later distribute the harvest. The Science Museum of Virginia has already donated 1,000 pounds to the Food Bank and more is on the way.

All summer volunteers have been helping maintain the Green Acre. Help has come from many places including Richmond Public School third graders from five different schools, who started seedlings for the Pizza Garden. It features ingredients you would find on a pizza - tomatoes, peppers and basil. A fall planting is now in the works.
