Pearl Harbor Day Memorial Ceremony

December 7, 2010, 4:00pm - 5:00pm

The December 7, 1941 Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor was one of the great defining moments in history. A single carefully planned and well executed surprise attack that removed the United States Navy's battleship force as a possible threat to the Japanese Empire's southward expansion. America, unprepared and now considerably weakened, was abruptly brought into the Second World War as a full combatant. This "sneak" attack on Pearl Harbor was labeled by President Roosevelt as "a Day of Infamy" and the battle cry of the American people became "Remember Pearl Harbor."

Remember Pearl Harbor: Pearl Harbor Day Memorial Ceremony on December 7, 2010, 4:00pm - 5:00pm at the Virgina War Museum in Newport News. This annual event features a presentation, in the museum theater and is followed by a wreath-laying ceremony, at the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association monument on the grounds adjacent to the museum.
