Williamsburg, Virginia featured on the TODAY Show

As the Budget Travel Readers Choice poll winner of "Best Family Destination," the Williamsburg area was featured today on the TODAY Show this Thursday morning. Budget Travel's Editor in Chief, Nina Wildorf, spoke about the Williamsburg area and specifically mentioned the affordability of the area's attractions, citing Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. The most exciting ride in Kings Dominion's 35-year history debuted Friday April 2, 2010. The amusement park has partnered with the Dale Earnhardt Foundation to introduce this 305-foot tall, 93 mph $25 million steel Giga-coaster to the world by auctioning the first public rides to charity. Intimidator^TM305, inspired by one of stock car racing's most beloved and tenacious drivers, Dale Earnhardt, "The Intimidator^TM" is the tallest and fastest roller coaster of its type on the East Coast.

Comparison Shopping Trends, Vacation Planning Trends, & Vacation Theme Trends for Virginia’s Top Beach Leisure Destination

A recent study conducted on 7,670 opted-in travelers who searched for vacation rentals in Virginia's top leisure destinations from July 2008 to January 2010 validates recent forecasts by travel experts on consumers' interests in comparison shopping. Rentalo.com shared some interesting findings on traveler's vacation planning habits and destination's vacation themes for Virginia's top vacation destinations including Virginia Beach.

Comparison Shopping Trends for Virginia Beach: The study revealed that 58 percent of the vacation planners who inquired for a place to stay showed interest in comparison shopping among Virginia Beach vacation rentals, bed breakfasts, and hotels. 49 percent of leisure travelers showed interest in staying nearby Virginia Beach in cities like Sandbridge Beach, Salem, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth.
