Empire Brass featuring Elisabeth von Trapp in "The Sound of Christmas"
Friday, December 17, 2010
7:30pm
The Empire Brass, whose leader and founder Rolf Smedvig is one of the leading solo trumpet players in the world today, has the largest discography of any brass quintet in history. The Sound of Christmas features vocals by Elisabeth Von Trapp, the acclaimed granddaughter of the Baron George Von Trapp and Maria, whose autobiography led to the astoundingly successful Rodgers & Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music. The Sound of Christmas gorgeously weaves the brass ensemble and Von Trapp together in wonderful patterns and arrays of everyone's favorite Christmas music. The highlight of the evening will be a wonderful medley from The Sound of Music, wherein the guitar solo Edelweiss flows into an extraordinary rendition of Stille Nacht.
