The Virginia Zoo

The Virginia Zoo spans 53 acres running adjacent to the Lafayette Park and is bordered by the Lafayette River. Both the City of Norfolk and the Virginia Zoological Society share in the responsibility of the zoo. It is over 110 years old and has been acquiring animals since 1900. Zoo residents have come from around the world and include more than 350 animals from 115 different species ranging from elephants and giraffes to skinks and tree frogs.

That's right; the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk is full of variety. And highlighting this year's attractions are a Willow, a six-foot baby giraffe, four lion cubs, and a baby East African crowned crane. With over 53 acres of flower and fauna, there's a lot to see. Peek in on the prairie dogs, feed the goats, or hop on the Norfolk Southern Express, the zoo's steam engine, and explorer the vibrant gardens.
