Looking for something fun and different to do with the family this year? You should take the whole clan down to the see the Holiday Parade at the Beach. 2008 will be the 14th year for this parade and it's sure to be the best ever! The kids (and you) will love the all the giant balloons, the requisite marching bands, and the extremely unique, one-of-a-kind floats the parade promises each year. And what holiday parade would be complete without an official visit from Santa himself! It's the official kick-off to the holiday season at the beach and draws a fun and festive crowd of 20,000. So you'll want to get a good spot for the best view of Santa as he comes through. The parade is on Saturday, December 6th, 2008 and it starts at 5:30PM. The parade route heads north on Atlantic Avenue from 15th St. to 25th St. So set-up camp somewhere along the route and get ready to enjoy a unique Virginia Beach tradition. If you're not familiar with Virginia Beach, this section of Atlantic Avenue is right in the heart of VA Beach. It runs parallel to the boardwalk and offers countless places to pop in for a quick meal or sit down for an elegant dinner. Not to mention great shopping for the whole family. |

According to MSNBC, Virginia Beach ranks as America's least stressful metropolitan area.
Virginia Beach's slogan "Live the Life,"emphasizes its reputation as a relaxing destination for beach vacations. It ranks among the nation's five best markets for healthy air, freedom from crime, stable employment and strong income growth.
Another sunny factoid cited by MSNBC is Virginia Beach doesn't experience any days of heavy pollution in a typical year, according to Environmental Protection Agency records. This is a great for a visit to the beach.
Here are some more cool Virginia Beach rankings:
Best Life Magazine named Virginia Beach the second best place to raise a family. #1 was Honolulu, Hawaii.
Forbes Magazine ranked Virginia Beach #10 on the "America's 40 Best Cities for Outdoors". Some of the others cities were San Diego, San Jose, Tampa, Phoenix, and Austin.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Virginia Beach - Plaza Azteca
There is more than one Plaza Azteca around the area but my favorite is on Laskin Rd. The food is absolutely delicious. They serve up Mexican favorites like burritos, chimichanges, enchiladas, fajitas, and my favorite, the tacos.
The atmosphere and decor is all about Mexico from the Aztec art to the colorful architecture and "palm trees and desert shrubs." The wait staff is super friendly with service to match. The prices are affordable and the portions are very satisfying. It's a great place to hang with your buddies or bring your family. You're sure to have a good time anytime you visit.
Check out the website at Plaza Azteca
My favorite location: 1824 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.
