Tickets are now on sale for the Third Annual Dancing with the Williamsburg Stars event, a fundraiser on Saturday, March 3 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Virginia Peninsula and Literacy for Life. The event will be held at 7 p.m. on stage at Phi Beta Kappa Hall at the College of William and Mary.
A limited number of VIP tickets are available; for $115 guests will enjoy premium seating plus a pre-show cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception that begins at 5:30 p.m., as well as complimentary drinks during intermission. Reserved floor seating is $60 per ticket, and balcony tickets are $35 each.
Fans can purchase tickets in advance two ways: online, by going towww.WilliamsburgStars.com or by calling the ticket office at 757-221-2674between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
A dozen local “stars”- business and community leaders - have been learning new moves for their night on stage. They’ll be judged by Rebecca Rushforth, a professor of ballroom dance from the College of William and Mary and award-winning competitive ballroom dancer; Caren Schumacher, executive director of the Williamsburg Land Conservancy whose memorable tango with professional Woody Denmon to “Phantom of the Opera” charmed last year’s DWTWS audience; and Peter Gore, principal of Gore Capital Management and adjunct lecturer at the W&M Mason School of Business.
This year’s stars are: Lance Pedigo, one of the leaders of Colonial Williamsburg’s Fifes and Drums and also a member of the Celtic band Poisoned Dwarf; Dr. Ann Marie DeFiglio-Campolattaro, with the Yorktown Family Practice of TPMG; Scott Grafton, owner of Iron-Bound Fitness and Gym in New Town; Mary Johnston, a long-time teacher at Walsingham Academy (as well as a graduate); Bob Graves, president of Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center; Mary Beth Gibson, executive director and co-founder of Beyond Boobs! breast health support group; Scott Wise, a former James Blair Middle School teacher and owner/partner in University Management, Inc., a real estate development and management company;Tiffany Francis Reaves, of Howell Creative Group and president of Young Emerging Professionals of Williamsburg; Will Melton, owner of Computer Concepts of New Town (the reigning small business of the year for the Williamsburg Chamber); Barbara Watson, longtime Community Service Assistant Manager for James City County; Scott Zimmerman, owner of Conscientious Carpet Care and longtime Williamsburg Kiwanis Club leader; and Darryl Wynne, New Town branch manager of TowneBank.
Four local dance studios have volunteered their professionals to pair with the stars and prepare them for competition. Megan Van Guilder, Lorna Williams and Jerome Mester of Artinspired Studio One NN (Marilen Crump, owner) in York County; Steve Kirvan (owner) and Denise Ridley of 7 Cities Ballroom in James City County; Cindy Norge (owner), Woody Denmon and Elisabeth Tarodi of Country Bootleggers Dance Studio in York County; and “Mr. Z.” Rick Zilonka (owner) of Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Virginia Beach all will participate.
