Barrel Club Wine Social & Barrel Tasting
Friday, 10 February 2012 14:23

newkent_winery_barrel

You are invited to a very special Barrel Club Wine Social with our award-winning winemaker, Tom Payette. On Saturday, March 3rd, from 5:30pm - 8:00pm, join us in the winery's Production Room, where guests will enjoy a refreshing glass of Vidal Blanc as Tom speaks about the winemaking process.

After this, guests will be treated to a tasting of wines hand-drawn directly from the oak barrels and stainless steel vats. These wines include Chardonnay, Reserve Chardonnay, Merlot, and White Norton, which will be returning later on this spring.

To pair with our wines, Groovin' Gourmets Catering from Richmond will provide hors d'oeurves, including Oysters Rockefeller baked on the half shell, beef tenderloin on silver dollar rolls, grilled pineapple skewers with coconut sauce, and mini assorted quiches.

Earlier in the day, the winery will be holding an autograph session with Tom from 2:00pm to 4:00pm for the general public. Tom Payette has worked since 1985 crafting still and sparkling wines, including 7 years experience in ultra-premium Bordeaux varietal wine production in Napa, California. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Tom also studied under famed Bordeaux oenologist Jacques Boissenot. He is a noted national speaker, recognized international wine judge, contributing author to the book "Winemaking Problems Solved" and technical columnist for international trade magazines.

The price for this event is $25 per person, which may be pre-paid or paid on the night of the event. Space is limited, so please RSVP by Wednesday, February 22nd, if you plan to attend. The Production Room is kept at a constant 55 degrees, so guests may want to bring a light jacket or sweater. To RSVP, or for more information, call the winery at (804) 932-8240 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
