Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner with A View at the Chesapeake Grill
Wednesday, 24 November 2010 09:51

Contributed by Debra Blackburn

Have you ever looked out at the ocean at night from your hotel room or condo at Virginia Beach? Did you ever wonder what that string of lights were that cross the bay sparkling so brightly on a clear night? Those lights are on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel, located on US 13 just off Shore Drive.

It is definitely worth the toll charge to find out where these lights take you. That is just what I did.  I took a drive up Atlantic Avenue which turns into Shore Drive, then taking US 13 I paid my toll.  It was $12.00 for a vehicle with 4 wheels tunneland I began the journey across the bridge, what a beautiful view it was. Just before I went into the bridge tunnel there was a sharp right turn to get off, which I did. This is known as Island One where the new Chesapeake Grill is located. The restaurant opened July 1, 2010. It is owned by Christopher and Kellson Savvides, they also own the Black Angus restaurant at the beach front.

Chesapeake Grill has wonderful water views and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu includes an array of items, from local seafood entrees to steak and chicken entrees. They even have a kids menu. The chef likes to use locally grown ingredients whenever they are available. On Sunday’s they offer a brunch that the locals say is to die for......I just want to try everything on the menu.

For a day outing with the family or a quiet romantic sunset dinner I would recommend the Chesapeake Grill. They offer fantastic food at fair prices, wonderful views and outside dinning; weather permitting. If you have to wait for a table you can shop at Virginia Originals a gift shop located next to the restaurant. Don’t just take my word for it. Try it out yourself!

Click here for more information about Chesapeake Grill. My recommendation would be to take Shore Drive to US 13 get on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge pay the toll and watch for the sign’s to the Chesapeake Grill. Enjoy the views, fishing, gift shop and the best thing the food.
