An Annual Richmond Tradition - Court End Christmas

23rd Annual Court End Christmas

Saturday, December 13th
12-5 PM

Court End Christmas is an annual Richmond tradition when 10 historic sites (see below) located in and near downtown Richmond throw open their doors to celebrate the coming holiday. There is free parking available and shuttles transport guests between sites. Please contact Valentine Richmond History Center at 804.649.0711 for more information.

The 10 sites:  The Valentine Richmond History Center | The John Marshall House | St. Paul's Church (new in 2009!) | Virginia State Capitol | St. John's Church | Monumental Church | The Beers House | The Egyptian Building | Hunton Hall | Museum & White House of the Confederacy

Parking... Ample on-street parking is available, or park in the VCU Hospital on 12th Street at Leigh.

Shuttle... A complimentary shuttle will provide service between all 10 sites throughout the afternoon.

The annual Church Hill Holiday House Tour occurs the same afternoon, 12-5.

Tickets are available in advance for $15 at ChurchHillRichmond.com or purchase $20 tickets the day of the event at St. John's Church.

St. John's Church will have the following schedule:

1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.: Reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention of March 1775, where Patrick Henry urged his fellow delegates to action when he uttered the immortal words, "Give me liberty or give me death!" Seating begins at 12:30pm.

2:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.: An Afternoon with Eliza Poe - St. John's Church is the final resting place for Elizabeth Arnold Poe, Edgar Allan Poe's birth mother and an accomplished and highly praised stage actress. Hear her tell her tragically short life story and enjoy selections from her repertoire. Performance takes place outside in the churchyard near Mrs. Poe's grave memorial. Visitors are allowed to bring seating.

2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: Costumed interpreters in the church will be available to answer questions about the church, Patrick Henry, and the events in Virginia leading up to the American Revolution

5:00 p.m.: The Virginia Girls Choir will perform traditional pieces from their repertoire.
