Delight your holiday guests with fresh goodness from Great Harvest
Friday, 21 November 2008 00:00
dianne-todd.jpgThere's good news for fans of Great Harvest Bread Co. and lovers of fresh bakes breads and sweets. Dianne and Todd at Great Harvest in New Town are baking up special holiday breads and other baked good to help your holiday feasting. Two especially tasty items to be aware of are Great Harvest's stuffing bread and Virginia rolls.

The Virginia rolls are extremely popular. Perfect for your Thanksgiving meal, Virginia rolls are amazingly light and buttery. A word to the wise: be sure to order your Virginia rolls soon. Due to the holiday demand, it's recommended that you place your order by Monday November 24th. Your guests and family will love them, so be sure to order enough to satisfy everyone and to have a few left over for yourself!

The second item to order while you're at Great Harvest is their stuffing bread. This long-awaited, annual favorite is essential for the best homemade stuffing recipes. It also makes the best leftover turkey sandwiches! If you don't have a good recipe for homemade stuffing, or if you'd like to try something new this year, try this easy to prepare recipe:

Great Harvest Stuffing

Ingredients:

  • 12-16 pound Turkey

  • 1 loaf or Great Harvest Stuffing Bread or Oregon Herb Bread

  • 1 stick of butter

  • 1.5-2 cups of chicken broth

Directions:

Slice the loaf into 2" cubes and dry in the oven for 3 hours at 200.
Place cubes in a large bowl and add 1 stick of butter that has been cut into small pieces.
Add chicken broth.
Place stuffing inside of the turkey or in a covered casserole dish and bake a normal.

Come in and see Dianne and Todd at their Great Harvest bakery in New Town. It's located at 5560 Foundation Street, Williamsburg, Va, right in the heart of New Town.
