FREE Guided Theme Tours at Hampton Roads Naval Museum - Tuesday, March 9

HRNM_cwexhibit4Every second Tuesday enjoy gallery guided theme tours at Hampton Roads Naval Museum.  Reservations are required, with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 25 people. Call 757-322-3108 for reservations or for additional information.

Lay the Keel

Take a guided tour through our exhibits where you will discover the design history of shipuilding, 11:00 a.m.Explore the development of the U.S. Naval warship with a tour of the museum's ship model collection. Highlights of the tour include an original 1833 half-model of the ship-of-the-line USS Delaware, the original builder's model of the battleship USS Maine, an original spotter's model of the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CVB-43), and the original builder's model of the aircraft carrier USS America (CV-66). Tour lasts about one hour.

Between the Devil and the Deep
Tuesday, March 9, 2 p.m.

Explore the history of the sailor from the Revolutionary War to the present day as you take a guided tour through the museum. See the changes and traditions of the sailor over a period of two hundred years. Last about one hour.

The Hampton Roads Naval Museum is an official museum of the United States Navy and reports to the Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington, D.C. The museum is dedicated to the study of 234 years of naval history in the Hampton Roads region. The Hampton Roads Naval Museum has been accredited by the American Association of Museum. Click here for more information about this honor. The museum is located inside Nauticus in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. It is open daily from 10 AM. to 5 PM. Closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
