‘ Tis the season for holiday science fun!

Monday-Tuesday, December 27-28, 2010

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. • $65 non-members/$60 members

Robot Mission I (grades K-1)
Meet some radical robots that do some extraordinary things! Investigate the science of simple machines. Build a robotic hand to perform a task. Try robotic math using a Roamer-bot, and then design robots to colonize the moon.

Robot Mission II (grades 2-3)
Learn what simple machines help to make a robot work. Program a Mars rover in Space Quest and use robots to explore space. Use end effectors to load a shuttle cargo bay. Build a robot using Robotix then program and play with some working robots.

Robot Mission III (grades 4-5)
Investigate the history of robotics and how NASA uses robots to explore Mars. Build robots to compete in team challenges. Use LEGO’s Mindstorms and
program your robot to navigate through an obstacle course.

Space Adventure I (grades K-1)
Gear up like an astronaut when you make your own space helmet and astronaut pack as you get ready for your lunar adventure. Take a walk on the moon with special “moon shoes.” Train to work in space like an astronaut. Make your own astronaut meal and glow-in-the-dark mobile! Explore the universe with the IMAX film Hubble 3D!

Space Adventure II (grades 2-3)
Become an eggstraordinary inventor when you put your creativity, and egg cartons, to the test! Use foam egg cartons to build a protection pod for an astronaut landing. Make ice cream using liquid nitrogen for a cool treat. Test launch paper and balloon rockets. Explore the universe with the IMAX film Hubble 3D!

Join Mission Control when you perform a simulated lander mission. Create a mission patch and explore the past, present, and future of space exploration. Learn and experiment with different types of rockets. Explore the universe with the IMAX film Hubble 3D.
