Holiday Shopping in Williamsburg, Va - Cool Shops to Visit

toymakerGetting everyone on our gift list a good present occupies a major part of our thoughts during this time of year. We worry whether we'll remember everyone, whether they'll like our gifts, where we'll get the gifts, how much they'll cost, and all this takes its toll on our enjoyment of the holidays. To help you cope with this stress, I thought I would suggest a few different businesses that sell interesting things and can be of great help during the holidays.

First up is Mermaid Books. This quirky little bookstore, tucked into a basement down the street from Aromas, has a wide selection of interesting, affordable books. If there's a bookworm or two on your list, you need look no further. Mermaid Books also has interesting odds and ends, such as antique postcards, which can make great stocking stuffers, ones certain not to be duplicated by other gifters. Across from Mermaid is The Peanut Shop, which is where I would recommend getting the edible variety of stocking stuffer. A tin of chocolate covered peanuts makes an excellent little gift.

Of course, I should mention where gifts can be got for that special someone in your life. The silver smith's shop in Colonial Williamsburg sells some really wonderful and unique pieces of handmade sterling jewelry, and is quite affordable.

The Toymaker downtown has some wonderful gifts for children. It's a good place to get unusual board games, puzzles, and model soldiers. In short, if you want to buy a child something that doesn't need batteries, go to the Toymaker.

I hope this helps. Merry Christmas!
