Looking for something fun to do on a Saturday afternoon? How about a brewery tour of Legend Brewery right here in Richmond. Legend gives free tours of the brewery every Saturday at 1 PM.  For those of you who aren't familiar with Legend (and I'm sure there are very few of you) Legend brews five types of beer year round: Lager, Pilsner, Brown Ale, Porter and Golden IPA (India Pale Ale). These are all modern American interpretations on classic styles. They also offer at least one seasonal at all times, beers like Oktoberfest, Chocolate Porter, Doppelbock, and Stout.  My personal favorites are the Legend Lager and the Golden Ale.  I highly recommend both. 

Legend Lager is their lightest beer and is a nice golden color.  It has a sweet malt smell with a hoppy aroma.  The taste is really nice and well balanced.  This is a great beer to drink anytime.  The Golden Ale is also a good beer but strong.  It's a deep golden, full bodied beer.  This beer is considered a cult classic partly because the Alcohol by volume is 7%. To me Legend beers always taste so fresh but maybe that's because I live nearby and they're brewed locally. 

Legend also has other great brews - the most popular is the Brown Ale, the darkest is the Porter which is rich and loaded with chocolate and coffee flavors and a Pale Ale which I haven't sampled yet.  There is literally a beer for anyone here (over 21 of course).  So, take the tour and see where the magic happens.  Then afterwards stop in the restaurant,  sample a few beers and have lunch.  The menu is good and they have a nice view of the Richmond skyline overlooking the James River.
