It's Presidents Day weekend. That probably means you don't have to work on Monday, which opens up another day to celebrate! Even better, Williamsburg has planned two full day's worth of exciting events!
Saturday begins at 10am, when George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison speak in the House of Burgesses, Joint Conference Room and General Court Room. At 1pm, George Washington will sit down to recount his long career in American service. Following Washington is Patrick Henry, discussing the friendships and political relationship he shared with his contemporaries. The evening ends at 7pm with The Virginia Company performing songs and instrumentals from George Washington's lifetime.
Sunday's events begin at noon, when Washington, Jefferson and Madison return to talk about the letters they exchanged proposing a new government. At 1:30pm, Martha Washington discusses the duties of her life as president's wife. In the afternoon, Colonial Williamsburg's Fifes and Drums salute the nation's presidents. The night ends with a Concert in Governor's Palace entitled "From Coronation to Inauguration."
All events are open to the public.
