Secrets to Shopping at the Prime Outlets - Williamsburg
Wednesday, 02 December 2009 09:34

Contributed by Diana Fakhouri

Prime_OutletsStill nursing your blisters from darting through puddles at the Prime Outlets' Midnight Madness? I know I am, but that doesn't mean I'm not planning my next trip to the shopping trenches! As a Williamsburg transplant, I've garnered a few tried and true Outlet shopping secrets that - lucky you! - I'm willing to impart.

For starters, if you must go on the weekend, avoid peak hours like the plague. If you're a Williamsburg local, take advantage of the luxury of being able to start early or pop in just before close. I'm willing to brave the crowds for a holiday like Black Friday, but in general I prefer having the store to myself. Plus, salespeople are usually less flustered and more likely to offer to bring out the new arrivals from the back when you catch them at a slow hour.

Parking at the Prime Outlets is notoriously awful, as we all witnessed this Thanksgiving night when Richmond Road turned into a parking lot. That said, I am not above bribing a friend to drop me off and come back in a few hours. If you have a kind-hearted parent, husband, sibling, friend, or fellow shopping junkie willing to do the same for you, I highly recommend it.

A tip I've only recently embraced is to join the e-mail list of all your favorite stores. As much as I hate bulking up my inbox, you can find out about some of the Prime Outlet's best deals through email. Don't want to give out a personal or work address? Simply create a shopping-only username and check it once or twice a week for your favorite brand's latest deals.

Williamsburg offers a different shopping scene than neighboring Norfolk and Richmond, and that's why we love it. Whether you stop by after work or plan your weekend get-a-way around a morning jaunt to the Outlets, use these tips to succeed on your next shopping adventure!
