On Friday, March 19, the famous Peking Acrobats will be performing a CNU's Ferguson Center. This troupe of dexterous daredevils has been flying straight into the hearts of audiences all over the world since their Western debut in 1986. The performers have all kinds of tricks: acrobatics off bicycles and stacks of chairs, trapeze and tumbling, juggling, and mind-bending contortion. Their performance is beautiful to watch for the sheer precision of it, the impossibly graceful maneuvers, executed with impossible speed.
If you're interested in giving yourself a little sneak preview, they have a DVD available at www.chineseacrobats.com, and they have appeared on many American TV networks, including Nickelodeon, ABC, and NBC.
One reason that the Peking Acrobats are so spectacular is that the tradition of Chinese acrobatics goes back some 2200 years, at least. Acrobatics have played a major part of Chinese festival, celebrations, and folk art for all of that time. And you can be certain that 2200 years of practice has paid off. This show will be amazing.
