Do you know who this big, blue fuzzy guy is? This is RIP TIDE, the mascot for the Norfolk Tides. He is arguably their biggest fan and you can see him buzzing all over the place during their baseball games. He is very entertaining and will squirt you with his water gun if you're lucky. This year marks Rip Tide's 17th season cheering the Tides on.
For those of you who haven't been to a game the Norfolk Tides are a minor league baseball team in the Triple-A International League. They play at Harbor Park in Norfolk, Virginia. They are a farm team of the Baltimore Orioles. If you haven't been to Tides game or it's been a while since you've been it's time to go to a game.
Going to a Tides game is a lot of fun. You get to see great baseball but at a fraction of the cost you'd pay at Camden Yards (the home to the Baltimore Orioles). You can have great seats right along the baseline with little but a railing separating you from the players. And Tides players are super friendly and oftentimes will sign autographs before and after games. The stadium is nice and you really feel like you're a part of the action. These are nice things to feel when you go to a baseball game. It's really how attending a game should make you feel. What a great experience to share with your children and friends! So, get outside and take the family out to the ballpark. It's a great value and fun for everyone.
What's on Deck? This week the Tides play the Gwinnett Braves:
Thursday, July 2nd at 7:15
Friday, July 3rd at 6:15
Both games will feature a fireworks show.
