Weekly Showtimes at Byrd Theatre

Posted by taylor in Richmond , Family Fun

Fri, May 6 - Thurs, May 12, 2011

The Byrd Theatre, www.byrdtheatre.com located at 2908 W. Cary Street, was built in 1928 in Richmond, Virginia as one of the nation's Grand Movie Palaces and is both a State and National Historic landmark. Today it serves as an anchor for the quaint Carytown shopping district, offering second-run movies for $1.99. And just as in the early days of the Byrd Theatre, you can catch a Saturday night performance of the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ prior to the movie.

Delicious Desserts at The Surrey House Restaurant

It's no that I have a sweet tooth.  I love to eat sweets!  In fact, the first thing I look at when I go to restaurants is their dessert menu.  So, I thought I'd give a recommendation for a restaurant with some fantastic desserts - The Surrey House Restaurant in Surry, VA.

Just a short  ferry ride from Williamsburg and you can enjoy a wonderful meal in a great setting.  The Surrey House has very reasonable prices and a nice, welcoming atmosphere.  And most importantly delicious desserts!

Check out the dessert menu and remember to save some room! If you recall from last week I recommended the Apple Fritter and Hot Fudge Brownie.  But really I think anything on this menu is going to be amazing.

Enjoy down home country meals at The Surrey House Restaurant

Some food just makes you feel good!

Contributed by Taylor Stone

For me, down home country cooking makes me feel good.  What do you think of when you think of down home country cooking? If you're like me you probably think about homemade food made from fresh ingredients.  Foods that you cook over a hot stove that just smelling them will make your mouth water.  Foods like Fried Chicken, Fried Shrimp, Pork Chops, Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, Chicken Fingers, BBQ Sandwiches, Stewed Tomatoes, Hush Puppies, Green Beans, REAL Mashed Potatoes, and Collard Greens.  Well, there is a place that hits the mark on what it means to serve down home country cooking.  It's The Surrey House Restaurant in Surry.

Enjoy dinner and a movie at Movie Tavern in Williamsburg

paranormalactivityThis past weekend I went to Movie Tavern in Williamsburg to see Paranormal Activity 2.  What can I say I'm in the Halloween spirit and wanted to see a scary flick. I have to say the second installment didn't disappoint (if you like horror movies.)  I'm not saying the plot or acting is going to win any Oscars but the movie itself satisfied my need for fright.  I jumped out of my seat about 4 times!  Good thing my boyfriend was there to hold my popcorn.

I do love to shop! And while I can shop anytime of the year for some reason my favorite time to shop is in the fall. No, it's not a random thing...I actually have a few really good reasons.

1) New fashion lines are unveiled in September and they usually hit the stores about mid-month.
