A Spotlight on One of Williamsburg's Favorite Local Establishments
Contributed by RA Henriquez
You've probably stored away your grill and are cleaning your oven out for those delicious turkeys and hams. But somewhere in the back of your mind you're wondering when you'll find time to fend off the pounds. For Williamsburg locals, there's only one answer: Iron-Bound Gym in New Town.
Right now, you can try IBG for one full week - FREE! All you'll need is a local driver's license and motivation to get the most out of your fitness experience. You'll be given your own tour and orientation of the Gym by one of the trainers who have over 19 years average experience or the owner himself, Scott Grafton. Iron-Bound Gym has been a local establishment since 1985, but recently opened in New Town in 2006, of which the last 5 years has been under ownership by Scott. Either Scott or one of his trainers will help you lay out your individual goals, show you how to properly use the machines, and provide basic nutrition advice.
More into tone than bronze? That's okay, "We have over 35 classes per week." From yoga to zumba, and classes with catchy names like muscle pump, "which focuses on endurance" to Gut and Butt, which "focuses on your core." They have 15 cycling classes per week alone!
Recently, Scott and the Iron Bound family raised more than $2,600 for Hospice House of Williamsburg and Beyond Boobs, a local breast cancer awareness organization, in their cycling event, Battle From the Saddle. Events like these are important not only to the community but also to Scott himself. "We love getting to know our members individually, by name." That's the Iron-Bound difference that separates IBG from other establishments. You're not just a member; "When you join Iron-Bound Gym, you're joining the IBG family."
So don't feel bad about the added summer pounds, and get those turkeys while they're on sale. But don't forget to come on down to Iron-Bound Gym to get a tour, set your goals, or just say hi to Scott and the family.
