The Virginia Discovery Museum in Charlottesville brings young children and families together to engage minds, excite imaginations and explore the world around them.
Check out The Tibetan Way Exhibit currently featured at the Virginia Discovery Museum through March 27, 2011.
A mysterious land in the Himalayas, Tibet is widely known as the country that sits 'on top of the world'. Explore the unique culture and traditions created by the mostly indigenous people that learned to thrive in this harsh land. Visit a nomad's tent and learn about the many uses for yak. Try your hand at blanket weaving, or trade goods in the market. Listen to Tibetan music while you dress in traditional garb for the Losar Festival, the festival of the Tibetan New Year. This exhibit will open your eyes to a fascinating world that has only recently been revealed.
