Do you like fresh food? Do you enjoy supporting local businesses? If you answered yes to these questions, the Williamsburg Farmers' Market is just the place you need to be. The market is currently being held every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (with 40 vendors and producers) and on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m. (with 20 vendors and producers).
The mission of the Williamsburg Farmers' Market is "to establish the weekly Williamsburg Farmers' Market in Merchants Square for growers and producers of Eastern Virginia to sell fresh seasonal food and farm products directly to the residents and visitors in the Greater Williamsburg area for the purpose of providing healthy regionally produced food to the Williamsburg Community, stimulating the farm economy and preserving agricultural land, reviving the historic role of the Williamsburg town center as a place for markets and creating a fun and educational venue to enhance community life in Williamsburg."
All of the vendors are from eastern Virginia and one can find anything from flowers to mushrooms to honey to seafood at the Farmers' Market. Are you looking for fruits and veggies? Check out Agriberry from Hanover, Virginia. Maybe you are in the mood for baked goods. If so, Betsy's Baked Goods from Gloucester County has what you are looking for. How about some beautiful flowers to brighten up your kitchen? Head on over to the Roots & Blooms table for those! Or, if you are not in the mood to buy anything, just come out and take advantage of the free samples and enjoy the atmosphere that the Farmers' Market has to offer. As an added bonus, a lot of the shops located in Merchant's Square hold sidewalk sales during the Saturday Farmers' Market.
