The Keys of the Kingdom (1944)

The decade-spanning drama was nominated for four Academy Awards, including one for Peck as Best Actor. Joseph L. Mankiewicz and Nunnally Johnson wrote the screenplay based on A. J. Cronin's novel.

Doctor Zhivago (1965, Rated PG)
David Lean's beautifully photographed, sweeping epic of star-crossed love during the Russian Revolution was nominated for 10 Academy Awards. Zhivago (Omar Sharif), a doctor and poet, loves his wife but is compulsively drawn to his mistress and muse, Lara (Julie Christie), as Russia is beset by war and revolution. The film is based on Boris Pasternak's novel, which won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958.
