Virginia Arts Festival Music of Queen, A Rock Symphony this spring
Thursday, 25 February 2010 08:25

Contributed by WR Murphy

The Virginia Arts Festival is doing some really great shows this spring. One of them looks really neat: Music of Queen, A Rock Symphony. From the creator of Music of Led Zeppelin, this rock and roll symphony will up the ante on powerful musical performance. Brent Havens will be the conductor. He is a renowned composer in his own right. In addition to his world-famous rock symphonies (the two named above, plus Music of Pink Floyd and Music of the Doors), he has written music for many movies, and for ESPN.

I should set one thing straight, as well: a rock symphony is probably more like a rock concert than it is like a symphony. There are spectacular lighting affects, the driving pulse of a rock and roll beat, and that concert energy. These things, coupled with the careful arrangement and precise performance of a symphony, create a mind-blowing, high-intensity musical performance that you will not soon forget.
