Virginia Opera's Emerging Artists Give Free Concert
Friday, 27 January 2012 12:44

On Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 7:00pm Virginia Opera’s Emerging Artists will give a free concert open to the public. The concert will be held in the Fine Arts Theatre inside of Saint Patrick Catholic School in Norfolk, Virginia located at 1000 Bolling Ave, Norfolk, VA 23508. No reservations are required to attend.

The program will include music by Samuel Barber, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Francis Poulenc
and Joseph Marx. The concert will feature Emerging Artists, Kaileen Miller, soprano and Max
Wier, bass. Emerging Artists Apprentice Coach, John Arida, will accompany on piano.

Participants in Virginia Opera's Emerging Artists perform leading and supporting roles and/or
cover leading roles in the company’s mainstage productions. Additionally, some Emerging
Artists perform leading roles in fully-staged Education and Community Outreach productions that
tour schools throughout the state of Virginia. Community concerts and company promotional
concerts offer artists the opportunity to perform standard arias and ensembles in concerts with
piano. Emerging Artists are regularly re-engaged for main stage productions in future seasons.

Performances of Orphée are January 28, February 1, 3, and 5 at Norfolk’s Harrison Opera House.
Four gifted Emerging Artists appear in this intriguing production. Mezzo-soprano Marta Wryk
appears as Aglaonice. Tenor Drew Duncan appears as the Reporter and tenor Patrick
O’Halloran as the Glazier. Baritone Michael O’Halloran, a returning Virginia Opera Emerging
Artist will sing the Policeman.

Tickets for Orphée are available on Virginia Opera’s website at vaopera.org, and via phone at
1.866.Opera.Va (1.866.673.7282).
